Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another- and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

For followers of Christ this means a few things. First, we are obligated to 'spur' one another to love better and to live better. Secondly, we are to come together and encourage one another. I believe this is where fellowship begins to take place. Our idea of fellowship is far more social than spiritual these days and I truly believe it's time to go deeper. Apart from one another (the body of Christ) we limp along, but together we can do incredible things for God. That is truly what I'm interested in. Too many years of my life were spent experiencing the "shallow" things of this world and I've found that God's plan for my life is anything but shallow. While it is full of struggles and trials, it is "abundant" just as Jesus promised in John 10:10- superior, extraordinary, uncommon....who doesn't want that?

The Splendor of Fellowship is a series of special events just for women to bring us together so that we may be motivated to love, spur, encourage, learn, and grow. From the beginning I knew and understood that God would use this place- Gazelle's- for more than selling handmade things. It encompasses much more. Please won't you join me and my friends as we come together during these events to encourage and love one another? If you've never attended such an event, you have all the more reason to come! I promise you will walk away "full". Thank you for allowing me and my sweet friend Barb (owner of Heavenly Sweet Bakery) the opportunity to minster to you. We are so very honored and excited.

The first event in the series is "Fellowship in the Garden" on July 18th at 4pm. Held at Gazelle's, we will offer dinner, challenging devotion, worship and prayer. Cost is $20. Please invite as many as you'd like! Register today by calling or emailing me.

In His great love,

Tammy

248.496.1047

tammy@thehouseofhandmades.com

Summer Art Fair

I will be hosting my first Summer Art Fair on Saturday, July 25th from 10-5pm. The shop and it's surroundings are just a perfect place for creating and being inspired and the kids are off to a wonderful start. Yesterday we worked on painting ceramic tiles that will be fired and began work on a painting that we'll finish today. We still have lots more to complete this week- collage, needlefelting and self-portrait! If you know any children that would love this sort of thing, I still have openings for other classes and would love to have them. Ages 2nd grade and up. Email or call to register! $50 for week Class dates and times:

June 22-26 & July 6-10

class a: 10:00-12:30 class b: 2:30-5:00

Week ends with a Friday evening art exhibit for friends and family at 7pm!

tammy@thehouseofhandmades.com

248.496.1047

Mothers are so special

This bracelet made from vintage jewelry is a perfect Mothers Day Gift!

Anytime in the month of May you can bring your momma to Gazelle's and recieve 20% off your entire purchase plus a free special gift for her too! I just love the idea of her out searching for these cute little glass pots! How many times have we seen these at flea markets and garage sales? I wonder what else could be done with them? I've used them for my business cards which looks real sweet. Hmmm....wouldn't a succulent be pretty in one? What better way to spend a weekend morning than sifting through possible treasures! More importantly, I am excited about meeting all the people that will come to buy and sell. This is such a unique way to connect with people in our community.

I am looking for people interested in selling, so please spread the word! The first market will be held Memorial Day weekend and the cost is $30 for Sat., Sun., and Mon. You can bring just about anything to sell- except for clothing. Vintage clothing is okay. Handmade stuff good too. Whatever you'd like!

Email me for more info! tammy@thehouseofhandmades.com

Loving People

One of the greatest delights for me is meeting new people here at the shop. With eyes that see how carefully and thoughtfully God has designed each of us, I can't help but to think that God is surely the greatest artist ever! The details he gave each of us makes us each a unique work of art and not just physically- but our souls as well. I'm always amazed at His splendor and creativity.

This week I quietly watched as He brought people who "get me"...understand what I'm doing here- which is not just selling arts and crafts. I couldn't help but think that there are simple no "chance meetings" but that our creator (who did such an incredible job with us) also creates "special moments" for us here- to help and teach us. These people HE brought this week were such an encouragement to me and I was so thankful for their kind words and the way they lifted me up. Karen Czarnik, a storyteller and new friend of mine, was one of these people who really blessed and encouraged me this week. Thanks for not being afraid to speak your heart.

Months ago, on an episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition, a home was being built for a family with a handicapped child. Alongside this story they shared a story of a local man who was also handicap who owned a coffee shop. This man had been born in Egypt- and had been tossed aside like garbage because of physical disabilities. Somehow, he was found and adopted by some family here in the states and now has a wife and family and runs a coffeeshop where he employs people with disabilities. At the end of the episode he said something I will never forget- "It's not about selling coffee".

As I said earlier in the post " I'ts not about selling arts and crafts". There is something much bigger and far more divine going on here at Gazelle's. It's about Love.

In the picture: Marge, my very first customer, Me and my little gal Sid giving each other some love!

The Inspiration behind Gazelle's

Gazelle's has been something more than a little shop since the very beginning. It is part of a plan- a story written by God- for me. Yes, I do believe that our great big God who created the universe and all in it, has a plan for me- for each of us. From the very beginning of this endeavor I've seen evidence of His handiwork at every turn. It all began a few years ago....

I was at a strange place in my life. My youngest daughter Sydney was in school all day. I would get her on the bus and then begin to fill my day with all sorts of activities- volunteer work, housework, errands, ministry...all good and meaningful stuff, but I felt so empty. One day out of the blue I received a call from a woman at church whom I didn't really know well at all. She invited me to join a group of women for a Bible study. They were going to meet in an old farmhouse our church had bought in Holly. I truly didn't want to "do" another thing- everything was leaving me so empty. However, I somehow felt drawn to the idea and decided to go. That decision would change my life forever.

A group of 60 or more women gathered in that farmhouse every week to worship and study God's word. The fellowship was unlike anything I'd ever experienced, but something even greater was happening- I was finally beginning to know and understand the God I'd been trying to serve all along. He was teaching me and preparing me for greater works- things I would have never imagined that I would be able to do. He was transforming me- renewing my mind-so that I could finally know His will and plan for my life. After a year of diligently studying God's word and seeking Him, He began to give me a vision. The vision wasn't new to me. Actually, it was something I'd dreamed of for years- using my artistic gifts to work and serve. In the beginning He gave me the word 'charismata' as a framework to the vision.

CHARISMATA- things given or put another way 'stuff from grace'. A charisma is given not earned or bought. It is given by the Spirit, not by a leader or by a church body. There are many kinds of gifts the Spirit gives. Ultimately, life itself is a free gift from God. But when Christians speak of 'Charismata' they are talking about a specific gift that is given specifically to build up the community of believers, those within it and those it serves. These gifts are given not to save, but to empower the saved.

That was the beginning and so much has happened since then. So many stories to tell. So many amazing things I've watched God do and so many incredible people He's given me the opportunity to love and care for. Perhaps next time I'll share more! For now, I have much work to do!

Col 1:29
To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.
